Lieutenant-pilot Xavier Henrard was the only Belgian Hurricane-pilot who was killed. He died on 2 March 1940, when three unarmed Belgian Hurricanes tried to intercept a German Dornier Do 17. The Dornier opened fire and all three Belgian planes were hit. Xavier Henrard was the only deadly victim. After this incident, all interception-aircraft were armed.
