On January 19, 1945 the Germans took over three detainees from Dokkum to Leeuwarden. At Valom resistance fighters forced to stop the car and arrested them freed the prisoners. On the German side were victims including Sonderkommando Albrecht. In revenge, the Germans executed on Monday, January 22, 20 people. Jarl Ruinen was one of those executed.
