Text on the memorial: [i]In 1944 Westkapelle suffered inevitable destruction in the battle for freedom. In 1954 this stone was added towards the reconstruction of the village and unveiled by Rear - Admiral A. F. Pugsley C.B., D.S.O., who commanded the naval assault group in 1944. 26 June 1954.[/i]
