The camp Kremboong was set up for 240 workers and the facilities were quite good. In January 1942 it is a Jewish camp. Jews from Amsterdam must walking from Hoogeveen station to the camp. The manager of the camp was a cook. The residents were employed in the mining of the moors for Heijdemij. In July, all residents "moved" to Westerbork. A dozen residents fled during the crossing. Two survivors fled, Ies Jacobs and Paul Süsholz, unveiled the monument on April 23, 2009.
