Oise-Aisne American War Cemetery

This war cemetery contains the graves of 6.012 American soldiers and officers who fell in the First World War. This cemetery was also the resting place of Eddie Slovik, the only American soldier to be executed by the United States Army during World War II. His body was later repatriated to the United States. In this cemetery there are a total of 95 soldiers who were executed, all convicted of crimes of common law (murder - theft - rape). The graves are located behind the intendant's house and cannot be visited. There are also no crosses on the graves, only a numbered block indicates the location. The cases are described in detail in the book "The Fifth Field by Colonel French L. MacLean.
