Maginot Line - Fort Rohrbach (Fort Casso)

N62, Rohrbach-lès-Bitche
Grand-Est, France

Originally, the plan was for Fort Rohrbach to consist of 10 blocks. But due to budgetary reasons this was reduced to 3 blocks. The garrison of Rohrbach consisted of 176 men, including 3 officers. Between 15 and 30 June 1940 the fort was involved in the battle with the German army. The artillery support from the nearby Simserhof ouvrage prevented the ouvrage from being captured by the Germans. Fort Rohrbach was captured by the Americans on December 10, 1944. Today, Fort Rohrbach is a museum.
