Ruins Saint-Julien Church
Fossés Saint-Julien, Caen
Normandie, France

Archaeological studies have evidence that this church was built between the 7th and 8th century. In 1050 the Saint-Julien church was already mentioned in the writings of the Order of the Templars. During the Hundred Years War the church was seriously damaged and was rebuild in the 15th century. During the Battle of Caen in 1944 the church was destroyed by heavy bombing, only the portal of the church is still on (see photo).
