Memorial Bloody Gulch

In this place on June 13th 1944 the American army gained a decisive battle to put out of state to harm the SS of the 17th Panzer Grenader Division and the German parachutists of the 6th Regiment who had invested the manor of Donville transformed into advanced headquarters. The engagements were so violent that the American soldiers called this place the bloody gulch in reference to the hill which dominates this place. Robert Noody, American parachutist of the company F of the airborne forces was one of these heroes while destroying not far from there a German tank of type Panter IV The commune of Meautis lost about thirty civillans in the combat of which 10, were shot by the Nazis.
