Beech Hill County House

32 Ardmore Road, BT 47 3QP, Londonderry
Derry, Northern Ireland

Built in the 17th century, during World War II Beech Hill House was home to over 750 US Marines and Marine Personal when it became the European basecamp for the US Navy. Today, a small exhibition is maintained in the hotel with artifacts from the war, and in the grounds, two WW2 Quonset huts still exist. This base existed before the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour, and it helped Derry City become a base for the Battle of the Atlantic.
