In the main body of St George's Anglican church, within the British Cemetery, are several plaques to fallen servicemen. "In loving memory of Douglas Rawes Lieut. Kings Royal Rifle Corps Wounded in Flanders June 26th 1915 Died in Lisbon August 16th 1915 Aged 34 years Interred in Lisbon September 1st 1915 Dulce et Decorem est pro patria mori" Douglas Rawes. Lieutenant. 8th Bn. King's Royal Rifle Corps. Died 16 Aug 1915. Buried St George's British Cemetery Lisboa. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Proud and loving memory of Errington Douglas Rawes Pilot Officer R.A.F.V.R. who lost his life together with the other members of the crew of his Hudson aircraft during a bombing raid over Northern France on the night of the 21st/22ndnd Dec 1941" Errington Douglas Rawes. Pilot Officer. 63801. RAFVR. Died 21 Nov 1941. Aged 25. Duke of Cornwall's L.I. Born 19th November 1892 Killed in Action in Palestine November 22nd 1917" Henry William Mitchell. Lieutenant. 5th Bn attd 4th Bn. D.O.CL.I. Died 22 Nov 1917. Aged 25. Buried Jerusalem War Cemetery, Israel ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "In Loving Memory of Lieut. Henry Chapman Cabral The Gloucestershire Regiment Born December 24th 1928 Died in captivity in Korea November 26th 1951" Born in a Crown Colony he arrived in Portugal as a teenager and was part of s saboteur group during WW2 attacking enemy property in the Estoril area. After the war he returned to England and was educated at King's School Bruton before entering Sandhurst College for officer training. He shipped out to Korea with the "Glorious Glosters" as Intelligence Officer. He was captured in action at the Battle of Imjin River and imprisoned and severely tortured. He died on November 26 1951 and was posthumously mentioned in despatches. Commemorated on the UN Wall of Remembrance, in United Nations Memorial Cemetery, Busan, Dong-gu, Busan Metropolitan City, South Korea.
