Memorial 2nd Battalion Ox and Bucks Regiment
Avenue de Major Howard, 14860, Ranville
Normandie, France

In the park of the Memorial Pegasus is a memorial in honour of the 180 British soldiers of the 2nd Battalion of the Ox and Bucks (Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry). The stones - with the names of all landed soldiers and the glider pilots responsible for the precision landings, stand next to the original Pegasus Bridge. The stones also list the aircraft that took the gliders to their target. The battalion's mission under the command of Major John Howard was on D-day to secure the bridges over the Caen Canal and the River Orne. The capture was a success and they sent back the code words ‘Ham and Jam’ to confirm their success.
