Former Barracks Gardes Frontière
Chaussée de Liège, 4841, Henri-Chapelle
Liège, Belgium

This is the former barracks of the "Gardes Frontière" at Henri-Chapelle. This barracks is located on the main road from Liège towards Aachen (D). The barracks were intended for the so-called 'cyclistes frontières', frontier cyclists, who guarded the borders. They moved by bicycle on patrol and to the surrounding bunkers in the Henri-Chapelle sector and adjacent sectors. During the end of World War II, the barracks were used by the U.S. Army Military Police, among others. The barracks have been disbanded and are now in use by a truckcompany. Other barracks of "cyclistes frontières" were located in Visé, Eupen, Verviers, Malmedy and Henri-Chapelle, among others.
