The crash of a German fighter aircraft, a Focke-Wulf FW 190-A6, took place at this location. The German pilot shot at an American B-17 and it fired at him. The Focke Wulf crashed in Boekel, and the B-17 in Eerde near Veghel. This took place on October 20, 1943. The location of the memorial sign is at the Goor te Boekel and from that sign you look in the direction of the crash site. The sign was made by Heemkundekring Sint Achten op Boeckel and placed on 31-08-2022.
