Belgian War Graves Sint-Joris

On July 28, 1944, the Halifax EY-X MZ crashes in Ramskapelle (Nieuwpoort). Crew members William Gladstone Hoffman and Russel Harry Winter do not survive the crash. The couple Désiré Verhaeverbeke and Marie Couvreur are killed by bombs dropped from the Halifax. Marie Couvreur was heavily pregnant with twins. Both the crew members and the war victims are buried in the cemetery of Oud Sint-Joris.
