Memorial Operation Chariot

This memorial commemorates Operation Chariot, the Raid on St. Nazaire on 26 March 1942. 168 men were killed out of the 611 who took part, and only four of the 18 ships returned. 89 decorations were awarded, including five Victoria Crosses. This memorial consists of a boulder with a plaque, granite pillars carrying personal recollections, and five Victoria crosses set in to the pavement.
