On this location, from 1910 to 1973, was the building of the Berliner Sportpalast, used for propaganda-meetings during the Nazi-era. On 18 February 1943 propaganda-minister Goebbels asked here the question: "Wollt Ihr den Totalen Krieg?" (Do You Want the Total War?).
