Temporary Graves Executed Members Plot Against Hitler 20 July 1944
Großgörschenstraße 12, Berlin-Schöneberg
Berlin, Germany

At this location in the Alter St. Mattaüs Churchyard, Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg, Ludwig Beck, Friedrich Olbricht, Albrecht Mertz von Quirnheim and Werner von Haeften were buried after they were executed on 20 July 1944 for their involvement on the attack on Hitler, earlier that day. They were first buried here, later moved. One source says that Heinrich Himmler had their bodied removed and burned, with their ashes thrown on a sewage farm. Another thinks they may have been reburied in a large unmarked grave with several others.
