In May 1940, the Dutch army had several defense-strongpoints around the centre of Dordrecht. two of these strongpoints were located at the Vriezebrug: one at the Vriezeplein and one in the Vriesestraat. Bulletholes from the fightings can be found at Kromhout nr. 217 (picture 1 and 2) and opposite Vriesestraat nr. 130 (picture 3 and 4)
