Hiroshima Castle

This castle was built from 1592 to 1599 and served as the headquarters of the 2nd General Army and 5th Division during the Second World War. It was completely destroyed by the atomic bomb on Hiroshima on 6 August 1945. The castle was completely reconstructed by 1958. The remains of the Imperial Army headquarters can be visited on the castle grounds.
