This ship's bell was once part of the Hr. Ms. De Ruyter who sunk during the Battle of the Java Sea in 1942. More than 1000 sailors died, including Schout-bij-nacht (rear admiral) Karel Doorman. The ship's bell and plaque can be found inside the Kloosterkerk.
