Crash Location Messerschmitt BF109 2./JG 27

On 1 December 1945, during Unternehmen Bodenplatte, a German Messerschmitt BF109 2./JG 27 crashed down on this location ('t Zand). He wa downed by AA fire at Melsbroek airfield. The pilot, Joachim von Stechow, was killed and is buried in IJsselsteijn War Cemetery. The plane has been completely recovered. The location is now a business park.
