At the Municipal Cemetery in Odoorn is a Memorial, a poem, placed in memory of the Resistance fighter Albertus Zefat. Albertus Zefat was a Dutch resistance fighter during World War II and farmer in Drenthe. He was responsible for hiding 20 Jews and bacaure of his refusal to betray them he was summarily executed by the Germans on 27 july 1944.
