Remains Tannenberg Memorial
Olsztynek
Warmian-Masurian, Poland
This former memorial complex was built from 1924 to 1927 to commemorate the German victory at the Battle of Tannenberg in 1914. It was turned into an important symbol of the German Third Reich. The retreating German army detonated the memorial between 21 and 22 January 1945. The new Polish government finished the job. There are only several small remains left to visit these days.
