Memorial "De Zon van onze Hoop"

Text on the monument: ‘Where oppressed people are offered hospitality, borders are pushed back, walls broken down and gates unlocked. - 5 May 1995’ The street is named after Lieutenant Colonel [bioid]64738,David Silvertop[/bioid], commander of the 3rd Battalion Royal tank Regiment. He was killed on this street corner and is buried in the [towid]694,local cemetery[/towid]. He had a meeting here on the 25th September with Brigadier Harvey of the British 29th Armoured Brigade, a major of his staff (J. Thompson) and Lieutenant Colonel [bioid]64740,Hubert Orr[/bioid] of 3rd Battalion, Monmouthshire Regiment. They were fired upon by two armoured vehicles chased by their own troops. Both Silvertop and Orr were killed, the other two were wounded. Orr is buried in [towid]588,Overloon[/towid].
