In the hall of the Town Hall of Dongeradeel in Dokkum is a memorial stone on the ground. The stone is from an unknown building in Dongeradeel. The stone reminds of the stay of many Dutch who found evacuee shelter during the hunger winter of 1944-1945 On the stone is the text: In grateful memory of evacuees in Christmas 1944.
