Fort "Mewi"

Fort "Mewi" was built between 1844 and 1876 as a part of the Gdansk fortress. During the German invasion of Poland in 1939, the fortress served as operational base for German troops for the Westerplatte peninsula. After the battle of Westerplatte, fort "Mewi" was a temporary camp for Polish POWs. [b]The fort today:[/b] Fortress "Mewi" has deteriorated and is in ruins and can can be visited.
