Festung Libau - Northern Fort

Liepāja, Latvia
This Russian fort was built from 1894 to 1903 and saw heavy fighting in May 1915, after the German army landed at Liepaja. The German army captured it for the second time in June 1941. It was used by elements of the Heeresgruppe Kurland as part of Festung Libau. It saw also heavy fighting in 1945.
