Before the town hall are three trees planted and there is a small plaque in the lawn. It is a reminder of the Belgian, French and Canadian liberators of Hoogeveen. On the plaque is the text: 11 April 1945 - 11 April 2005 3 liberation trees in memory of the Belgian, Canadian and French liberators. Historical Circle Hoogeveen
