Menin Gate - Memorial to the Missing

The Menin Gate is one of four memorials to the missing in Belgian Flanders which covers the area known as the Ypres Salient. This memorial contains 54.896 names of missing from the British Commonwealth. Each night at 8 pm the Last Post is sounded. A small replica of the Menin Gate stands in the garden east of the Menin Gate. On June 1, 1940, Adolf Hitler and his entourage visited the monument.
