The Memorial commemorates the Jewish family Heckscher and all victims of the Holocaust. The Heckscher family was the only Jewish family in Sleen. General Police Journal, No. 40, October 8, 1942, 1142, message 2264: The mayor of Sleen requested on behalf of the Security Police in Assen, located, detained and brought Elsiena Geertina Heckscher-Jozep. She was suspected of having changed her place of residence without having the required authorization this description referred to Jews who had gone into hiding. On the Memorial is the following text in Dutch and Hebrew: Reminder Isaac Salomon Heckscher 10 April 1904 - 31 March 1945 Elsiena Geertina Heckscher-Jozep 7 February 1906 - 28 January 1944 Meijer Heckscher 13 November 1932 - 28 January 1944 Rolf Heckscher 18 February 1936 - 28 January 1944 May their souls be bundled in the bundle of eternal life.
