Bullet Impacts Katwijkseweg 19a
Katwijkseweg 19a, 2242 PB, Wassenaar
South Holland, Netherlands, the
At this address was in May 1940 and still the bulbs farm of the family Overdevest located. Because of its location near the (now former) Valkenburg airfield the complex came in the firing line right. The residents were advised to move elsewhere. Father Overdevest returned after two days back to look after the animals and even came under fire. At home he found in the living room a few German soldiers who were killed in a firefight with Dutch soldiers. The house still has bullet holes of this battle on the north side. A German cap was always kept and a bullet with a portion of the rabbet is also stored. The house is not open to the public.
