Memorial Lustgarten

Am Lustgarten, Berlin
Berlin, Germany

On May 18, 1942 an attack on the propaganda-exhibition "Das Sovjetparadies" took place. A Jewish-German resistance movement that was led by Herbert Baum committed the attack. Herbert Baum and 33 members of his resistance group were captured and executed in Plötzensee Prison. In late May 1942 another 500 Jews were killed as a reprisal measure. At the Lustgarten a monument is situated to remember the attack and its consequences. In 2000 this monument from the GDR-era was adjusted to show the correct information and to clarify the selective GDR-propaganda.
