Former Einsatzgruppen Training Center Castle Pretzsch

Before World War 2 this castle, that was built from 1570 to 1574, was taken in use as a school for the German border police. In the spring of 1941 the men of the Einsatzgruppen of the SS were assembled here. Before the invasion of the Soviet Union they were trained here in the tasks they had to fulfill in the East. The Einsatzgruppen were responsible for the extermination of more than 1 million Jews in the Soviet Union. Nowadays the castle is in use as a children’s home.
