St. Martins Church York

During the Baedeker Raid (29th April 1942), the Germans bombed York. During this bombardement, the Saint Martins Church has been havy damaged. Between 1942 and 1968, the church 'slept' in ruins. On 28 april 1968, she awoke from her sleep and she became a Shrine of Remembrance.
