Most of those buried here lost their lives when the S.S. "Lancastria" was sunk by enemy action off St Nazaire on the 17th June, 1940. There are over 70, 1939-45 war casualties commemorated on Le Clion-sur-Mer Communal Cemetery. Of these, over 25 are unidentified.
