Memorial Ravensbrück Brussel

In the parc George Henri is a memorial who commerates the fallen political prisoners of Belgium. Belgium had 40,000 political prisoners during the Second World War. The Ravensbrück memorial consists of an adult woman with her arm around a child pressed against her body. On the left a rose bed was laid, on the right is a stone with a quote from a letter from Marguerite Bervoets, poet, beheaded in Wolfenbuttel on 8 August 1944. Her quote: "I fell so that the Belgian sky would be purer, so that those who come after me could live in freedom, as I wanted so much myself. I have no regrets and I think about your children who will be free tomorrow " Marguerite Bervoets (1914-1944)
