In the lobby of the City Hall in Rotterdam is a Memorial to Winston Churchill. Text on the Memorial: [i]THE WORLD IS OPEN TO YOU WINSTON SPENCER CHURCHILL MEMBER OF HONOUR OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF ROTTERDAM MAY 13TH 1946[/i] In the lobby of the City Hall in Rotterdam is a Memorial to General George Catlett Marshall. General Marshall wrote the document for the central strategy for all Allied operations in Europe, selected Dwight Eisenhower as supreme commander in Europe and did form Operation Overlord, the invasion of Normandy. During the remainder of World War II, Marshall coordinated all Allied operations in Europe and the Pacific. He was characterized by Winston Churchill as the organizer of Allied victory. Time magazine called Marshall Man of the Year in 1944. Along with Eisenhower and MacArthur in 1944 he was appointed to five-star general.
