At the Municipal Cemetery in Zahara de los Atunes, municipal Barbate, is one Commonwealth war grave. This is the grave of: Able Seaman Joseph Collins, P/JX 182689, Royal Navy H.M.C.S. Weyburn, died 22-02-1943, age 24. On 22 February 1943, the Canadian ship HMCS Weyburn (K173, Flower-class corvette) hit a sea mine that was laid by a German U-boat. One of the crew members that was killed was Able Seaman Joseph Collins, he is buried in this cemetery. Photo 5 shows the HMCS Weyburn.
