The Science Museum has an interesting aviation collection. Among the exhibits, is the Vickers Vimy with which Alcock and Brown crossed the Atlantic in 1919. Also on display is the De Havilland Gypsy Moth with was flown solo by Amy Johnson from England to Australia in 1930. She was the first female pilot to do so. World War Two enthusiasts will be pleased to see the Spitfire mkI, the Hawker Hurricane mkI, the Gloster E28/39 (first British jet powered aircraft) en the collection of aero engines.
