German War Cemetery Rossoshki

This German war cemetery is divided into two grave fields. At the left side of the entrance road is the old (the now refurbished) cemetery which was used by the Wehrmacht during the war to bury 600 of their fallen comrades. Today, 1,639 German soldiers and officers are buried here. The old cemetery is surrounded by a stone wall. At the right side of the entrance road is the new part of the war cemetery. This basin-like structure is 150 meters wide and contains the remains of 53.240 German soldiers and officers (in 2009). Their numbers are still growing each year.
