Plaque erected on the left side of the wall at the Roman Catholic Church at Driel. The text on the plaque states: Erected by 5th Battalion the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry Old Comrades To Commemorate The Dash To Driel On The Evening Of 22nd September 1944 In Their Attempt To Relief The 1st Airborne Division At Arnhem Plaque erected on behalf of Soldier [bioid]99065,Johan Kosman[/bioid] on the right side of the wall at the Roman Catholic Church at Driel. The text on the plaque reads: Ter roemrijke gedachtenis Johan Kosman Geb.18 mei 1917. Parochiaan van Driel. Als soldaat van het 8.R.I. in dienst van het vaderland gesneuveld op den grebbeberg mei 1940. Gij allen. Die hier voorbijgaat. Gij vooral zijn vrienden bidt voor hem. Die zijn leven gaf voor zijn vaderland. Johan Kosman, was born at Groesbeek on May 18th and lived in Driel. He was killed in action during the fightings at the Grebbeline (probably at Rhenen) on May 11th, 1940. He lies buried at the Dutch Honor Cemetery Grebbeberg, Row 6, Grave 39. In the RC church in Driel are several plaques which are related to the service of the Polish Airborne soldiers during the Battle of Arnhem.
