This memorial stone marks the spot where on 16 April 1945, a British bomber of the type Lancaster Mk. I crashed. The bomber was part of the 617 Bomber Squadron RAF "Dambusters" and was shot down by a German AA gun, during a raiding operation against the German heavy cruiser "Lützow". All 6 crew members died in the crash.
