Château De Harzé

This castle was commandeered on October the 29th. During the Battle of the Bulge, it housed the Headquarters of Major General Matthew B. Ridgway, commanding officer of the 18th Airborne Corps. On December the 24th, Field Marshal Sir Bernard L. Montgomery visited Ridgway in this castle. On December the 28th, General Dwight D. Eisenhower, commander-in-chief of the Europian Theater of Operations, met Major General Ridgway here. This stele is unveiled on February the 17th, 2006 in memory of our valiant liberators.
