Atlantikwall - Batterie La Marefontaine
Rue de la Marefontaine, Ver-sur-Mer
Normandie, France

This German coastal battery was armed with four Czechoslovak 100 mm guns and had a range of 9 Kilometres. During the Allied landings on the Normandie beaches in June 1944, it was shelled by the British cruiser HMS Belfast. The German garrison surrendered quickly without putting a fight to the approuching British troops, who were aided by flame thrower tanks of the 141th regiment of the Royal Armoured Corps. The bunkers are four Regelbau 669 "Schartenstand für Feldgeschütze (60°) ohne Nebenräume".
