At Breskens General Cemetery is a mass grave with 225 casualties from the population of Breskens, who died during the battle of the Westerschelde which started at 11/09/1944. And one Dutch war grave from the Second World War. The text on the headstone can be translated as follows: [i]Fallen for the fatherland N.A. Oostinga 8-12-1881 24-12-1944[/i]
