Castle "Marienburg"

This castle was founded in 1274 by the Teutonic Order, who named it "Marienburg". From 1933 it was the destination of pilgrimages of both the Hitlerjugend and the Bund Deutscher Mädel. An amphitheatre was built on the eastern side of "Marienburg" in 1934. The Teutonic Castle at Marienburg served as the blueprint for the Order Castles of the Third Reich (Ordensburg Krössinsee, Ordensburg Vogelsang and Ordensburg Sonthofen). 60 % of the castle was destroyed In 1945, but it was rebuild after the war.
