On the General Cemetery in Emmen is a Dutch War Grave of a resistance fighter from World War II. It is the grave of Hendrik Hadders. Hendrik was executed on March 8, 1945 on the Woeste Hoeve. And also the War Graves Of: Jan Gravers, 10-05-1940 Hendrik de Lange, 08-03-1945. [b]Former war graves[/b] On the Municipal Cemetery in Emmen are three former Dutch War Graves. These are the former graves of Albert Beens, Bouke Duursma and Johannes Koopman. Albert Beens was a Rotterdam policeman in hiding who joined the Emmen-illegality. On August 19, 1944 he was arrested by the Landwacht and taken to the police station in Emmen. Badly beaten, on the way to Assen in the Noord-Sleen murdered by the S.D. Albert Beens is buried in the Dutch field of honor in Loenen. Koopman and Duursma are buried in the Dutch field of honor Grebbeberg.
