In Stembert cemetery contains the grave of KURTZ Jean, age 28, resistance fighter with the Armée Secret. He was a teacher at Verviers atheneum. He was arrested on 5 September. He was one of the four resisters shot by the German army on 6 September1944 near Louveigné (Banneux). A special monument has been erected at the spot at [towid]141478, Louveigné where this happened[/towid].
