Airfield Ruigenhoek Noordwijkerhout

Ruigenhoek Airport was built in 1939 and put into use in April 1940. Ruigenhoek was one (1) of the emergency airfields. During the German invasion in May 1940, this airport was used a lot. Part of the invasion were airfields that were attacked by German aircraft and/or German paratroopers, as a result of which Dutch aircraft mainly from the area around The Hague landed at the airport. Around 60 combat flights were carried out from this airfield. At the end of the invasion, the Dutch aircraft were destroyed by their own personnel. There are no longer any visual traces
