This monument shows where the German troops were able to advance during the Ardennes offensive. The square was so heavily defended by units of the 30th Infantry Division, that Kampfgruppe Peiper (1st SS Panzer Division) was forced to find their way through the west of Stavelot. A total of 26 of these monuments are created in the Ardennes.
